Active Schools

Active Schools

We are on a mission in Scoil Eoin Baiste to be a more Active School.  With this in mind a new Active School Committee has been formed.  Pupils put forward their plan/manifesto outlining all the things they wanted to do to make our school an Active School. The committee elected  are pupils that we think will make a difference.

The Committee is led by Ms. Sinnott and other members are Elaine, Donncha, Gavin, Diarmuid, Ronan, Megan, Chloe, Bobby, Jamie and Caoimhe.

Ms. Sinnott then met the newly elected committee. She guides the committee and tells them how a committee runs. The Committee meet regularly and they decide on different activities to make sure we are physically active and physically educated in our school.  The have been working hard this year to promote physical activity in the school and have had lots of fun along the way!  They do a great job encouraging and motivating the whole school community.

The Active school Flag Initiative is a Department of Education and Skills Initiative (DES) supported by Healthy Ireland, which aims to get schools more active, more often. We hope to receive the Flag soon.  Scoil Eoin Baiste promotes inclusive physical activity throughout the school day.

At the moment the Committee has everyone running before we start school every morning.  Keep an eye on our updates and see how far we travel in the coming weeks !!
